Nina Jankowicz, who was a disinformation fellow at the Wilson Center and adviser to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.

Jankowicz has a history of sharing misleading claims about British ex-spy Christopher Steele’s discredited dossier and downplaying controversy embroiling President Joe Biden’s son.

When pressed by a reporter about the situation, White House press secretary Jen Psaki said she needed to learn more about it but defended the board’s mission.

“It sounds like the objective of the board is to prevent disinformation and misinformation from traveling around the country in a range of communities,” Psaki said. “I’m not sure who opposes that effort.”

The White House supports the disinformation board, Psaki added, citing disinformation that has circulated about COVID-19 and elections. The press secretary said she does not know who Jankowicz is.

Jankowicz previously cast doubt on the Hunter Biden laptop story while falsely claiming that an intelligence community report on foreign meddling referenced it. In particular, she played a key role in trying to shoot down reports by the New York Post about the contents of the laptop believed to have belonged to the younger Biden.

Asked about these incidents, Psaki did not elaborate.

“I don’t have any comments on the laptop,” Psaki said, adding later, “I don’t have any information about [Jankowicz]. I can check on more information about the board.”
